Obituary of TERESA MARIA DE OLIVEIRA GONCALVES RODRIGUES

TERESA MARIA DE OLIVEIRA GONCALVES RODRIGUES It is with heavy hearts that we announce Teresa’s passing, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 21, 2016 at the age of 66. She was predeceased by her mother Rosa de Oliveira Pereira and father João Jose Gonçalves and brother Manuel de Oliveira Gonçalves. Teresa is survived by her loving and devoted husband Joaquim Gomes Rodrigues. She leaves behind her loving children Alexandra (Mario), Susie (Ted) and grandchildren Cristiano, Marina, Eilano, Ariano and Lucas. She also leaves to mourn, her sisters Maria (Antonio) Barbosa, Fatima (Antonio) Lopes, her brothers José (Aurora) Gonçalves, Joaquim (Ana) Gonçalves, Antonio (Maria) Gonçalves and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Teresa was born January 25, 1950 in Minho, Portugal. She came to Canada with her siblings in 1972. Teresa met her husband in Portugal and went back home to marry the love of her life in 1974. Shortly after they had their two daughters. She enjoyed spending time with her family as they were so important to her, and watching her Soap Operas (Novelas). Teresa was a loving daughter, mother, wife and grandmother who extended her love to all those around her. Her smile would light up the room when she walked in. She had a warmth about her that could only be explained if you were fortunate enough to have met her. Our precious angel is no longer with us but she will always be in our hearts. Special thanks to Dr. David Szwajcer and his team and the amazing nurses in D6 and D4 at HSC for their sincere compassion they showed our mom always. Prayers will be held on Friday, June 24 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 25 at 9:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Teresa’s memory may kindly be made to D6 Lymphoma and Leukemia and BMT at HSC.
