ANNA BREZINSKI

Obituary of ANNA VIVIAN BREZINSKI

Anna Vivian Brezinski (nee Fulowka) It is with profound sadness that the family of Anna Vivian Brezinski announce her passing at the Concordia Hospital on March 10th, 2016 at the age of 87. Anna is survived by daughter Pam, sons Richard and Kenneth Carl, daughters-in-law Christina and Maria, grandchildren Steven, Jaclyn (Jason), Alana (Shawn), Lisa, Leah, Kenneth Kyle, Alexandra and first great-grandchild Adam. She also leaves one sister, Florence. Anna was born in Saskatchewan into a farming family of six children. Life was hard as most chores were done by hand. This experience provided great life lessons for survival and enterprise. Anna had a happy childhood and made many friends easily. It was through these many friends that made the routine long walk to school and back not so much a chore but an adventure. Local dances and church functions were the places to meet people from neighbouring communities during Anna’s teenage years. It is at one of these events that Anna saw Carl all dressed up in his military uniform-very dashing! After a brief courtship period, they were married on October 14, 1946 and spent the next sixty-six years together. Winnipeg was chosen as the city to put down roots. To help pay the bills, Anna worked at Eaton’s mail order in addition to other jobs over the years. When the children came along, Anna became “Mom” and a devoted stay-at-home parent. Mom had many varied interests but she was most interested in medical information and culinary recipe development. Mom even had one of her recipes published in a popular cookbook. Her concise understanding of medical terms and values had her speaking to professionals at their level much to their surprise. Mom balanced childrearing, housekeeping, and even bookkeeping when Dad’s business was starting out. Extended family members popped in to stay weeks or months as they found their path in life. Mom welcomed them into the busy family, doing her best to make them feel at home. Mom was a generous, giving person who put the needs and wants of others ahead of her own. If Mom was out shopping and saw something that someone else might like, she would buy it just to see the joy in that person’s face. Making others happy made Mom happy. It would just make her day! By mid-life, Mom started to experience mobility issues. Soon a wheelchair was required. Dad and Richard modified home and van and everyone was able to stay at home. Dad passed in 2013 and Mom stayed at home until she passed in 2016. The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Richard for his many years of caring and dedication in maintaining Dad and Mom in their home as they had wished. Mom was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Pauline, eldest son Larry (2009), husband Carl Stephen (2013), three brothers (Adolph, Zygmund, Mike), and sister, Bernice. To honour our parents and to offer respect and gratitude, extended family and close friends joined together in a private memorial service for both Carl Stephen and Anna Vivian at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 09, 2016. A private family interment was held after the memorial service. Memorial donations may be made in Anna’s memory to: Children’s Wish Foundation, Manitoba Chapter 350 St. Mary Avenue Winnipeg, MB.
