Obituary of VICTORIA MOTKALUK
VICTORIA MOTKALUK
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vickie Motkaluk; a beautiful and loving wife, mother, baba, and friend. Vickie passed away very peacefully with her family by her side on April 3, 2016, at the age of 78 years.
Vickie will be lovingly remembered and so deeply missed by her husband of 53 years, Archie; her daughter Bonnie and son-in-law Tim, daughter Janice and son-in-law Rick. Baba will be missed so dearly by her 4 grandchildren: Braeden, Noah, Tyler, and Ava who she loved with all of her heart and are now left with beautiful memories.
Vickie also leaves to mourn her sister Marie, sister-in-law Sadie, sister-in-law Pauline and their families. Vickie was predeceased by her parents Peter and Safta (nee Djamen) Kosowan, brothers John, William (Bill), George and sister Olga.
Vickie was born on October 16, 1937, in Gardenton, MB. Mom moved to Winnipeg and met her husband to be, Archie, at a local dance hall. Mom and dad were married on June 15, 1963, in Winnipeg and together raised two daughters. Mom felt that her greatest achievement in life was her family. Mom’s door was always open and her kitchen was the heart of the home. Mom loved cooking her favorite Ukrainian dishes for her family as this brought her great joy.
Mom’s favorite season was summer as this was the time she could showcase her beautiful flowers that she planted in her front yard. She loved working in the garden so much, it gave her peace and tranquility. Mom’s flower beds were the envy of the entire street! Mom also enjoyed shopping for herself and spoiling her grandchildren.
We will miss mom’s beautiful smile, warm heart, and loving hugs. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. Our sincerest thanks and deepest gratitude to the Palliative Care staff on 3East at Riverview Health Centre for their compassion and loving care. In lieu of flowers, a gift in memory of Vickie may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will be in the summer at Gardenton, MB.
