Eleanor is survived by her sister Joyce Krotowich (Peter), niece Tara Sokolowski (Mark) of Edmonton AB, sons Darren Bilsland (Diane), Robert Bilsland and her grandson Samson Bilsland. Eleanor was extremely close to her cousin Gloria Liske and was very appreciative of all of her help and support.
Eleanor was born in Winnipeg, graduated from West Kildonan Collegiate and worked as a secretary at Canada Revenue Agency before raising her family at home in Winnipeg.
Eleanor was an accomplished writer, with many published short stories and poems in various Christian publications. She was extremely proud of her book, Journey from Despair to Hope where her words and original artwork were published. She continued writing, painting and drawing, finding comfort in her work, until her passing.
Eleanor cared deeply about world and local issues involving poverty and social justice. She was an active member of the Atlantic Garden-City United Church, Women’s Aglow, Manitoba Christian Writers’ Association and later Christian Life Assembly Church. Eleanor supported many ministries world-wide and was always willing to help.
Eleanor was a dialysis patient at Seven Oaks Hospital and Health Sciences Center enduring treatments three times per week. She moved to Parkview Place in September 2014 where she was able to continue her treatments. Eleanor’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at these facilities especially the nurses and health care aids on the 6th floor at Parkview Place.
