Obituary of BORIS MYSHKOWSKY
BORIS MYSHKOWSKY
The world lost a gem on Monday February 29, 2016 with the passing of Boris Myshkowsky. Loved wholeheartedly by his wife Joyce, daughter Donna Paluk (John), sons Mike and Jay (Karen), grandchildren Kent (Ashley), Janna (Zac), Jake, Luke and great-granddaughter Riley. Survived by brothers-in-law Dennis (Sonia) and Jack Badiuk, sister-in-law Jeanne McCauley (John), and deeply mourned and missed by many friends and relatives.
Born in a manger surrounded by 3 wise men… sorry, that was another really good guy. Born and raised near Vita, Manitoba on November 27, 1936, Boris enjoyed many outdoor activities. He loved to hunt with his son Mike, his beloved uncle Mike and most especially, cousins Tom and Larry. He shot many innocent trees in his pursuit of deer, rabbit, prairie chickens, and the odd moose (some of which was even “in season”). He enjoyed ice fishing, and there were many trips to the lakes in the Whiteshell area with the Korchak family, packing up gear and kids in homemade sleighs towed behind the snowmobiles. Dad loved to fish, period. Countless summer days were spent at Nutimik Lake, in a boat at Barrier Bay with his favorite fishing partner, his beloved wife Joyce, in pursuit of Walleye, and he always knew where to find them.
Dad had a great respect for many of the people he worked with, he was proud of the friendships that he made working in Winnipeg One School Division, and he always felt respected by the administrators he worked for.
Dad enjoyed driving and a good cross country car ride, with mom riding shot gun, meant driving without sleep for 25 hours to Toronto to see the family he loved out there. He would make 2 or 3 trips a year to see his grandchildren in BC, losing money at casinos along the way.
Dad’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and his great granddaughter. Kent, Janna, Jake, Luke, and Riley know that your grandpa loved you with all his heart and was amazingly proud of all of you.
Beside him at all times was his wife and partner, Joyce. They were affectionately known as Bo and Jo. They are, and will always be, inseparable. Dad held on until mom was at the hospital before he passed. He waited for her to be by his side and that act alone is all anyone needs to know about how much he loved her.
Know that he loved a great many of you, friends and relatives. There are too many to list. Our family sincerely appreciates the love, acts of kindness, and support shown in this time of sorrow.
Thank you to the staff at Victoria General Hospital, his Oncologist(s), and every nurse that has ever worked in cancer care. You gave Boris a decade of extra life, and he lived every second of it for his family.
