Obituary of MARY PAWLYCHKA

MARY PAWLYCHKA (HOLOWKA) January 25, 1917 – January 29, 2016 Our family sadly announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 99. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children: Norris (Jennie) and Myrtle; grandsons Carey, Kevin (Debbie) and Carl; great grandsons Cody, Anthony and Julian; great granddaughters Chantal and Kelsey. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Ida Holowka and brother- in-law, Nick Marchak and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1992; her parents, and her siblings John, Bill, Olga and Daniel. Mom was born in Skylake, MB, to Michael and Annie Holowka (nee Woychuk). She attended school and helped with farm work at a young age. After her marriage to John Pawlychka in October 25, 1933, they settled in the Chatfield area of the Interlake. Mom enjoyed Ladies Auxiliary and playing baseball. At home many treasured evenings were spent listening to the radio, records or playing cards with friends. Mom enjoyed creating patterns, sewing and all types of needlework. She loved gardening and spending time outdoors. Mom and Dad moved to Winnipeg in 1953. Mom worked at Bond & Ronald candy factory and later at Dominion Bridge cafeteria until her retirement. She enjoyed the company of her grandsons, whom she loved dearly and who often had her laughing with their antics and many questions. Later, the arrival of her great grandchildren kept her happy with their visits. Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, with Fr. Frank Szadiak, CSsR officiating. Reception at St. Joseph’s Church Hall (Jefferson & Main) immediately following the service. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Charity of one’s choice.
