Obituary of DAPHNE MARGOT PRICE-MOODY

DAPHNE MARGOT PRICE-MOODY Peacefully, on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, with family by her side, Daphne died at the age of 90 at Fred Douglas Lodge, Winnipeg. Daphne is survived by her devoted husband Tom Moody; her four children, Martin Sundland, Jeannie Sundland, Valerie Price (Bill Currie) and David Price; grandson Morgan Provost; her sister Inez Barnicoat (Bill) and nieces Elizabeth and Inez. She was predeceased by her parents, William Lyle and Mabel Bonney Lyle, sister, Jean and nephew, Christopher. Daphne was born in 1925 in Bebington, England where she grew up and completed her education. Following her service in the British army during WW II, she married Olav Sundland and emigrated to Norway where Martin was born and, subsequently, to Fort William, Ontario where Jeannie was born. Later Daphne met her second husband, Edward Price, and moved to Winnipeg where Valerie and David were born. During this part of her life her focus was on being a homemaker and helping run numerous family businesses. In 1988 Daphne met the love of her life, Tom Moody. Over the next 28 years, they traveled together and remained devoted partners throughout. As her health declined, Tom’s loving care and support was constant. Daphne was an avid knitter for many years and loved reading and music and the arts. Her quick wit, sense of mischief and love of a good time endeared her to all and her life long love of music helped sustain her through her illness. Special thanks to staff at Fred Douglas Lodge, especially on the Evergreen unit, for their love and compassionate care over the last two years. Cremation has taken place and at Daphne’s request no funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Daphne’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or a charity of your choice. Life? Butterfly on a swaying grass That’s all… but exquisite!
