My dearest friends. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of beautiful Babcia.
Sophie was indeed a lovely person and I feel honoured to have known her. I also feel honoured to have been able to read via Tatjana and Daniela's Facebook posts all of Sophie's adventures. I smiled as I read, and watched post after post of this dear sweet lady. I will miss these posts terribly. Treasure your memories of your time with her. Go back to look at these posts often....initially it will be difficult, but with time, they will bring you back to that time and place. You will remember fondly...lovingly your time with your lovely Babcia. I pray that God will give you strength and you will keep each other strong.....
I am unable to join you as you pass this difficult time, but know that my heart, thoughts and prayers are with you!!
Much love
Angie and Cory Boehm

Auntie Sophie was an amazing woman. She meant a lot to me, although she only knew me for a third of her life, I have known her for all of mine, and was lucky to have her love and support throughout. I grew up listening to stories my grandfather would tell me about his childhood with his beloved sister Sophie. Before Auntie Sophie was taken away to Germany as a prisoner of war she had a special bond with her brother Wojtek, this bond was never broken even when thousands of miles were between the two of them. They always spoke on the phone; both crying; exchanging their childhood memories and talking about their love for flowers and gardening.
Now they are re-united catching up on the lost time and planting flowers in heaven.
Auntie Sophie left Poland when she was only 16 and in 1972 she returned to her place of birth after a long 33 years away. She came with her youngest daughter Val and they were the best and most eagerly awaited guests that my family could ever host. Every night Auntie Sophie would stay up late with my grandmother Jadwiga (Sophie’s sister-in-law) catching up and getting to know each other and becoming friends. She came to visit Poland again in 1976 with her daughter Mary and was the guest of honour at my parents wedding. She danced all night with all her brothers Wojtek (my grandpa), Irek and Edek and had an amazing time catching up with her sisters Krystyna and Hania. Although goodbye was hard she was very excited to return to her beloved husband and children in Canada. I also re-call a special memory, at Christmas, 22 years ago, when Auntie Sophie came to visit and stayed in our house in Lodz. This is when I first met Auntie Sophie in person. Although I had never seen her before I knew all about her and she was instantly my favourite aunt. She had an amazing sense of humour and during her visit the house was full of laughter and joy. I was also very lucky to come and visit Canada and stayed in her house for my summer holidays. Auntie Sophie was the best aunt ever, she would let me have cake and ice cream for breakfast, and she would patiently listen to living room piano concerts performed by myself, Daniela & Tatjana. Although neither one of us could play the piano she never told us to stop as she knew how much joy it brought to us all. I was so fortunate to meet the whole family that summer and made friends for life, despite the distance between us. Auntie Sophie always made sure the family knew and respected each other no matter how close or far we lived from one another. She was the only one out of six siblings that immigrated to Canada but she always remembered and helped everyone that stayed behind in Poland. She always had time to call and talk for hours, and these were the best calls. Over the past few years I was lucky enough to video chat with my auntie through the help of Daniela and Tatjana, for which I am very grateful.
During our calls auntie Sophie often asked: “Emilka when are you coming to visit?” and I always said: “I am coming, wait for me” and she did. I knew that I had to go and visit her and this is something my Grandpa would have wanted me to do for him. In September 2015, only a few months before she was taken from us I was very lucky to visit her again. It was a short and very emotional visit for the both of us. She gave me the best hug in the world and I will always remember it. We all have many happy memories and these we must hold dearly in our hearts and cherish them as she cherished us.
Auntie Sophie this is not a goodbye but a see you later as I know we will meet again. You are my angel and I know that you will look down over me. I love you and always will. You are forever in our hearts.

So sorry, Christy, to hear about your grandmother's passing. i did'nt know her but i know we would have got along famously. We both love looking after our flower gardens. i would have loved to hear her stories about being in the concentration camp in Lotz, Poland. I have read many books about the Holocaust and still read ones that I havent read before.
She was a very nice looking lady and had beautiful blue eyes.
