Obituary of TAMARA TRAVERS

TAMARA TRAVERS August 7, 1974 - December 24, 2015 It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our dear beloved, daughter, mother sister, grandmother, niece, cousin and friend at the age of 41 years. Tammy will be dearly missed and she is survived by her three children, Riviera, Drake, and Izabella, and her only grandchild Deriah Hunter. Her Kookoo Grace Siha, her mother Betty Traverse, her father William Traverse (Sonia) and close friend Diane Cooper who treated her as a daughter. Her brothers Jimmy Donn (Anne), Kenny, Tony (Harriet), Lisa (Doug), Shawn, William, Billie (Terrance) Tonia (George), Bill Jr., Peter. Will be missed by many numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and her many close friends. Predeceased by Father to her children, Lyle Hollohan. Her Maternal grandparent, Tony Siha. Paternal grandparents Arthur Traverse, and Margaret Traverse and her step-father Donald Rosevere. Tammy was a loving, laughing, caring person who loved to befriend many. She always listened when one needed an ear, and always gave advice if you asked. She always managed to take people under her wing who needed it more than herself. She had something about her that always seemed to cheer you up. She left home at eighteen on a great adventure, she had big dreams and big plans. She then met the love of her life Lyle Hollohan, and had her first child at 22. She opened a secondhand shop on Selkirk avenue which lasted a year. She had fostered children for a while, but what she really dreamed of doing was opening a shelter for women who would exit incarceration and who struggled with addiction and who lived hard lives. She wanted to give support to women who had went through similar situations she had dealt with herself. She believed that women with these problems would not know what to do and go back to dysfunction and addiction. Tammy was diagnosed with a chronic illness that always caused pain. That was her life and she lived with it, she did her best to take care of herself and would rarely complain. After being released from hospitalization and still living with this pain she was still thinking of others but herself, her children and grandchildren. She went peacefully early Christmas eve morning. Wake service will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday January 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be: Marcus Traverse, Samson Traverse, Shayne Traverse, Addison Traverse, Desmond Traverse, and Cody Stevenson. Cross Bearer will be: Peter Traverse.
