MAXINE PATRICIA KOZUBAL (nee Palmer) 1948- 2015 Our Nana’s gone to Heaven Angels took her away She told me that she loved me She hugged me yesterday. We thank you for the love you gave Sharing your life with us We love you Nana, now and forever. Your Grandchildren Maddy, Aidan, Brady, Bryce, Peyton and Nolan Maxine passed away peacefully on Sunday December 27, 2015 with family and friends by her side. Maxine was born in Winnipeg in 1948 to Walter and Annie (nee Hignett) Palmer. She grew up in the North-end with four brothers: Keith, Rex, Ron, and Barry. Maxine attended Sisler High School where she met the love of her life Jerry in 1964 at a school dance. They dated for five years and got married in 1969. Together they raised three children, Jason, Jennifer and Steven. Our house was home to many children in the neighbourhood as Maxine welcomed everyone into our home and treated them like family. Maxine loved to cook and entertain family and friends at home and at our cabin in Winnipeg Beach. Maxine enjoyed playing Bingo with friends at Holy Eucharist on Tuesdays or during the summer at Matlock. She also enjoyed card games and especially a dice game called farkles. Maxine enjoyed travelling. The family took many trips including Grand Forks, Kelowna, Nanaimo, the USA and Europe. Maxine especially enjoyed the Alaska cruise and celebrating our anniversaries in Las Vegas. She really enjoyed our October trip to Vegas with her best friends. Maxine and Jerry lived in Winnipeg, but spent a few years living in Thompson, The Pas and Ivano-Frankivsk Ukraine. She made many friends along the way. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she was able to find time to work as an aide at the Children’s Hospital, Winnipeg Winter Club, Thompson Economic Development and Costco. The last few years have been difficult with chronic illness creeping into her life. But Maxine still endured and kept a positive outlook on life. She had hoped she could have more time to see her grandchildren grow up. She loved them so much, they were the love of her life. Maxine is survived by: husband Jerry, son Jason and Sherri and grandchildren Maddy, Aidan and Brady, daughter Jennifer and Bill Fecio and grandchildren Bryce, Peyton and Nolan, son Steven, brother Rex and Caroline Palmer, sister-in-law Carol Palmer, brother-in-law Alex and Jan Kozubal, uncle Tim Hignett and cousin Barbara in England and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
