EUNICE INGIMUNDSON

Obituary of EUNICE INGIMUNDSON

October 14, 1914-November 2, 2015 At Middlechurch Home, Eunice departed this life in her one hundred and second year. She was born and raised in Selkirk, MB, of pioneer ancestry, married to Finny Ingimundson, mother of three children, grandmother to six, great-grandmother to ten children. She was predeceased by her husband, Finny, son, David, daughter-in-law Arlene (Honey), parents, Hugh and Carrie Reid, and siblings, Will, Stuart, Mervyn, Nancy, Kathleen, and Elizabeth (Betty). She is survived by daughters, Janice, Dianne (Adam Rusak), grandchildren Marc, Jason (Christina), Cara (Dave), Chris (Dorota), Rob (Sara), David (Ellen Mullally) and great grandchildren Ben, Elaina, Riley, Evyn, Kaiden, Tia, Lillian, Brody, Nola and Lleith. She is also survived by her last remaining (to our knowledge) cousin, Joyce Harbour as well as nieces and nephews scattered about the planet. Mom was a constant, loyal presence in all our lives, accepting our choices (not always agreeing but accepting nonetheless). When Finny died she learned to drive a car and applied the skill to delivering "meals on wheels" until well into her 80's. She was a hospital volunteer visitor, she ran a Nearly New shop in the church parish hall and participated fully in the life of the church. Some will remember her as the lady who made the caramel corn at the annual church fair. We will remember her strength and determination to maintain a life valued and spent with care, integrity and purpose. We will also remember and miss her sense of humor, and her ability to laugh at her own inequities and the dark side of life. It served her well as her capacity to navigate through life declined and she required more care, first through Home Care services when she lived at 1080 Powers and finally a brief period at Middlechurch Home, where she was treated with loving care and compassion The family is grateful to all who were involved in looking after her over the years. We especially want to thank Dr. John Mayba, Sandy and all the team at Home Care Services, and Marion who kept her looking coiffed even through difficult times. A special nod to Gloria-"you were always with her, in her thoughts, and as important to her as family" Finally, to the Rusak family, thanks for embracing her as you have and giving her honorary family status. She liked that! Funeral will take place at St. Francis Anglican Church (formerly St. Anne's), 253 Burrin Ave. on Thursday, November 12 at 11:00 am. Private interment will take place at a later date. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Eunice’s memory to the Middlechurch Home or a charity of one’s choice.
