Obituary of JOHN EDWARD (DANNY) STARR
JOHN EDWARD (DANNY) STARR
November 26, 1943 – October 4, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Edward Starr also known as Danny, Dad, Big Grandpa and Gramps on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Riverview Health Centre.
John was born on November 26, 1943 in Port Arthur, ON. He later resided in Fort Alexander, MB where he raised his family with his wife Marjorie of 52 years. Together they raised 6 children, Miriam (Joe), Vince (Darlene), Ruby, Shannon, Daniel (Barb) and Patrick (Tanya). They were blessed with 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-grandchild.
Danny enjoyed the outdoor life, fishing, hunting, rice picking and guiding. He was an inspiration of strength and courage. He was a giver and never a taker. Always helping others and holding nothing for himself. This was his nature and is very rare in our world to have people like this in our lives. There are sacrifices people make everyday for others and this man loved his whole family so much and would at anytime sacrifice what he could for them. His fighting for the past seven years living with tubes and machines was a battle that he didn’t let win easily and we believe he held on dear because he loved his family so much. It’s time to rest easy and find your peace.
He is survived by his brother Clifford Girard, sister Dorothy Starr and Manny Guimond. He was predeceased by his father Louie Majancik, mother Dorothy Starr; his son Vince Guimond; son-in-law Rick Pierson; his brothers, Charlie, Reggie and Louie J. Starr; sister Mary Fontaine (Starr); his two great-grandchildren, Dontey and Kylie; grandmother Caroline Starr; in-laws, Boniface and Elizabeth Guimond; and Gabe Girard (choom). Left to cherish his memory are numerous family and friends.
A Wake will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. also at Cropo. Cremation to follow. Honorary pallbearers are family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre, Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface ICU for all the care they gave John.
