Obituary of EDWARD (EDDIE) STANLEY ZEBRINSKI
EDWARD (EDDIE) STANLEY ZEBRINSKI
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward (Eddie) Stanley Zebrinski; son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and Uncle Grandpa to those who knew him. He leaves to mourn his sisters Rose Hildebrand (Abe), Betty Van der Lek, Debbie Delfosse (Marcel), brother in law Raymond Couture, nephew Greg Hildebrand, and nieces Michele Couture, Melanie Couture, and Katherine Delfosse, plus many friends and family. Also dear to him was Hayley-Anne Hiemstra.
He was predeceased by his father Stanley Zebrinski, mother Ann Zebrinski (nee Gottfried), sisters Agnes Zebrinski and June Couture, and brother in law Bill Van der Lek.
Eddie was born August 27th, 1941. He grew up in the Gimli and Arnes area and moved to Winnipeg in his late teens. He will be remembered as being larger than life spreading joy and laughter with anyone he met. He was active in many organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, and weekly bowling leagues, as well as a generous donator to the Winnipeg Humane Society. One of his greatest accomplishments was his dedication to his 27 years of sobriety.
Eddie was most known as a marriage commissioner performing hundreds, maybe even thousands, of weddings throughout Manitoba. Eddie loved his family and friends, all kinds of animals; especially pussy cats, vacationing in hotspots, Vancouver, as well as trips to Gimli. He was notorious for his dirty jokes and making perogies while listening to Ciocia Maria singing Ukrainian music.
A private family inurnment will occur at Our Lady of Mercy in Finns, MB. The celebration of Eddie’s life will occur on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Gimli Lakeview Resort and Hotel in Gimli, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any local animal shelters in support of Ed’s love of animals.
