PEGGY ZLUCHOWSKI
(Prochnicki)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Peggy on June 24, 2012, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 90.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband Ben, parents Josephine and Peter Prochnicki, in-laws Frank and Mary Zluchowski, brother William in infancy, Nicholas Prochnicki, sisters-in-law Evelyn, Merle, Orlean, and great niece Amanda, brother-in-law Walter.
She is survived by daughter Diane and son-in-law Don Lysy, sisters Ann Stednick of St. Catherines and Joan Howrigan of Thunder Bay, brothers Mike, and Walter of St. Catherines, and Bill (Sylvia) and Ed (Mary) of Thunder Bay, Aunt Rose, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Peggy was born on January 2, 1922 in Ingolf Ontario and came to Winnipeg where she met and married Ben.
In her earlier years she worked for Sharon Nursing Home and Naleway Caterers, and spent the next of her time raising her daughter.
Peggy’s main interest were spending time in Thunder Bay during the summer months with her family, also spending time at her summer home in Ingolf picking mushrooms and blueberries.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the slots at her favorite place Gaffers and looked forward to visiting with her neighbors at the trailer park. Her sense of humor stayed with her until the end. Her main bud was her canine friend Sage.
A special thanks to Dr. Anser and Dr. Steyn for their kindness and for the caring of Mom. Also all the wonderful staff on the 2nd floor of Selkirk General Hospital, Palliative care, clergy, and to all those who visited, sent cards, flowers, gifts, and all the telephone calls
At Peggy’s request there will be no memorial service. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
Footprints
One night a woman had a dream.
She dreamed she was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from her life.
For each scene, she noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
one belonging to her, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of her life flashed before her
she looked back at the footprints in the sand.
She noticed that many times along the path
of her life there was only one set of footprints.
She also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in her life. This really bothered her
and she questioned the LORD about it.
"LORD, You said that once I decided to follow you,
you’d walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome
times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why when I needed
you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
A Memorial Tree was planted for PEGGY
