Obituary of AIME FORTIER

AIME FORTIER Aime Fortier was born on January 17, 1955 and died at the age of 60 on September 4, 2015. While his passing was unexpected, he passed away in his home peacefully. He leaves to mourn his foster mother Nora Popien and the countless lives he touched since joining the DASCH family in 2001. Aime fluently spoke English and French and was proud of his Aboriginal heritage. Aime loved music, whether he was listening to music or playing the piano. In addition to performing musical numbers for his friends, he also liked to go for coffee, visiting with friends, travelling to Neepawa to visit his foster family, vacationing at the cottage and attending church. Aime was well known for his sense of humor, his care for others and his advocacy for people with disabilities. He was able to overcome a lot of challenges in his life thanks to the support of his family and friends. One of Aime’s lifelong goals was to complete his grade 12 education. He was determined to make sure he studied and earned high grades. He had this same determination with his work ethic and was one of the most dedicated staff we have known. Regardless of the weather or how he was feeling, he went to work each day and loved spending time with others! We will always be inspired by Aime as he taught us to never give up on your dreams, no matter what and if you fall to get back up and try again. With Aime’s passing we remind each other that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his smile and warm hugs, he will forever remain in our hearts. We will always treasure the privilege of creating many wonderful memories with him.
