WILLIAM (BILL) REINISCH

Obituary of WILLIAM (BILL) REINISCH

WILLIAM (BILL) REINISCH December 27, 1944 – September 15, 2015 After a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Bill Reinisch at Seven Oakes Hospital with his family beside him. Bill is survived by his best friend, soulmate and wife Carole, his son Warren (Michelle), his daughter Kristen, and his grandchildren Isabella and Lukas. He is also survived by his sister, a brother-in-law and wife, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family dearly and would do anything for them. He was a very honest and caring person, never hesitating to help others. His infectious smile, willingness to lend a hand, and dry sense of humour endeared him to countless friends. Bill was born in Winnipeg, growing up in West Kildonan and West St. Paul. After spending time in the architecture program, he graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science, mechanical engineering. He was a professional engineer and spent his career working at and eventually co-owning Progressive Manufacturing. Bill was an avid sailor and loved to be out on the water. When the water froze, he would turn to curling. Bill loved to travel, and had many interests he shared with family and friends; history, art, astronomy, gardening, cooking and shuffleboard. Bill also loved animals, especially the family dogs and enjoyed feeding birds. Somehow, Bill found time to serve on a number of Boards, including Lake of the Woods Roads Board and Luther Home, and is a past-president of Thistle Curling Club. His talents were many. He designed both our homes and designed and built the family cottage. He was a builder, plumber, and electrician. No job was too big or too challenging. Bill could fix anything except his cancer. His spirit never gave up but finally his body did. We loved him very much and will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank everyone at CancerCare Manitoba for their care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation “in memory of Bill Reinisch” to Manitoba CancerCare Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave or online at cancercarefdn.mb.ca.
