Obituary of FLORENCE ANGELA SLIVINSKI
Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Florence passed from our hands into God’s on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. She was a treasured wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Florence will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Frank; children, Marguerite ( Don ), Teresa, Pat ( Neil ), Ken ( Elizabeth ), Cathy ( Ed), Mark (Angie ), and Jacqueline ( James ); as well as 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Florence was predeceased by her sister, Valerie; brother, Walter; and grandson, Corey.
Florence was born on October 21, 1926. Throughout her life, Florence enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bingo, seniors club, and bowling. Gifts of her handiwork in the form of afghans, baby blankets, socks, mittens, toques, and scarves were treasured by numerous grateful recipients, including Cancer Care Manitoba. Florence was a lifelong member of St. John Cantius Church and since 1953, she belonged to the CWL, serving in many capacities. She will always be remembered for her hospitality and the fabulous feasts and baking she prepared for her family, friends, and out-of-town visitors.
The family wishes to thank all the home care nurses and workers associated with palliative care, and the nurses and doctors on ward 3C at Riverview Health Centre.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John Cantius Church, 846 Burrows Avenue, on Wednesday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. A private family interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Cancer Care Manitoba.
