Obituary of LILLIAN FRANCES RADFORD
LILLIAN FRANCES RADFORD
(nee Daneleyko)
December 16, 1941 - Morris, Manitoba
August 21, 2015 - Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Lillian Radford of De Winton, AB, on August 21, 2015 at the age of 74 years.
She was born at Morris Hospital on December 16, 1941 in Morris Manitoba. Lillian's greatest love was her family. Her early years were spent on the family farm in Ridgeville, Manitoba. At the age of 16, she along with her family moved to Winnipeg where she attended Daniel Mcintyre High School. Lillian worked several years at Rayovac in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and then for several years at Western Supplies / EMCO in Calgary, Alberta.
Lillian lived for bringing family together with her cooking and elaborate dinner menus. She had a passion for planning events and cooking enormous meals, especially Ukrainian dishes such as perogies and cabbage rolls. She was always available for special orders, and all who knew her would brag about her cooking. She flourished among friends and family, and particularly adored being around loved ones, telling stories, making people laugh and making sure everyone was happy and well taken care of. She loved brightening the home up with flowers from her garden, both inside and out. Lillian was extremely fond of animals, especially her prized cat, Patty. All who knew her became an instant friend, and her social circle was elaborate.
Although she had no children of her own, her nieces and nephews "became" her very own, and she took great interest in their joys and successes. All who knew her looked forward to her visits, where she would become the centre of focus, recounting tales of life "on the farm." She was the matriarch of the family, with her loss affecting us all very deeply.
Lillian is survived by her sister Linda (Victor) Nikolic of Calgary, Alberta and brother-in-law Luigi Venditti of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is also survived by her nephew Dr. Marcello Venditti (Becky), grandniece "baby" Janet of Winnipeg, Manitoba, nieces Lisa Venditti of Winnipeg, Dr. Elizabeth (Jacob) Nikolic-Douglas of Phoenix, Arizona, nephews William Nikolic, Nick Nikolic, and Jonathan Nikolic of Calgary, Alberta. She is also survived by her uncle Paul Danlake of Toronto, Ontario.
She was predeceased by her father William Daneleyko on October 30, 1996 and mother Pauline Daneleyko March 4, 1990. In addition, she also grieved the losses of her beloved sister Janet Venditti on November 13, 1992 and brother Ronnie Daneleyko (twin of Janet) on March 19, 1945.
