MARY JOSEPHINE HALISCHAK (nee Broza)
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary Josephine Halischak on August 20. 2015, at the Health Sciences Centre. She will be greatly missed by her children Stanley, Bernie (Eleanor), Roseann (Armand), Frank (Jocelyn), Andy (Maureen); her 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. She is also survived by her brothers Joe and John.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nick; her parents, Joseph and Rosalie; brothers, Anton, Casimir and Teddy; sisters, Rosemary, Genevieve and Angela; daughter, Vicki; and grandchild, Mandy.
Mary was born on June 2, 1925, in the Beausejour area (Cromwell MB) and attended Cromwell School. After marrying Nick in 1947, they farmed in St. Claude for a short time and then moved to Winnipeg where they raised their 6 children. She worked as a waitress at various restaurants until retiring at the age of 60. She enjoyed family get-togethers, gardening, reading, sewing, horse racing and cherished her many cats.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Health Sciences Centre, especially the nurses and doctors who cared for her.
Service will be held on Tuesday, August 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A private interment will be held.
