Obituary of RONALD ARTHUR FENWICK
RONALD ARTHUR FENWICK
September 16, 1946 – August 10, 2015
After a very brief illness Ronald passed away surrounded by family and close friends. Ron is survived by his loving wife, of 45 years, Louise (Laing), daughter Taryn Fenwick Taylor (Kyle Taylor), brothers Don Fenwick and David Fenwick (Andre Ferreira), Edward and Alice Laing, Ray and Bertha Laing, Valerie Laing (Edward Stechly) and his nephews and their families. Ron will be remembered by extended family members and a wide circle of friends.
Ron was predeceased by his younger brother Doug (1977), mother Irene (2000) and father Arthur (2002).
Ron was born in Haileybury, ON and grew up in Flin Flon, MB. He was the oldest of four boys born to Arthur and Irene Fenwick. After working for HBM&S and spending a year in Calgary he studied at the University of Manitoba. In 1969 Ron started working for the province of Manitoba and after a 35-year career in social services, he retired in 2004.
Ron has been noted for his big heart, ability to listen, compassion, mentorship and care provided to senior members of the family through the years. He loved to drive, and was determined not to take the same road twice! Who knew there were so many routes to get to his winter home in Mercedes, TX.
During the past eleven years Ron spent countless hours golfing and playing bridge. He and Louise travelled extensively in North and South America, China and Europe – viewing every new city as an adventure.
The family would like to acknowledge the care and compassion offered by the ICU staff at both the Victoria and St. Boniface hospitals.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Friday, August 14 at 11 AM at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St, Winnipeg. Interment will take place at Clearsprings Cemetery at 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, we know that Ron would appreciate donations to any local organization that you feel would benefit the youth in your community.
