RONALD DOUGLAS MARSHALL
Peacefully, on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015 Ron passed away after a courageous and valiant struggle following a stroke.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene; His children David, Debbie, Charlotte and Jeffrey (Marie); Grandchildren Krista, Dean, Gavin, Amanda, Matthew, Katie and Aryn; Great Grandchildren Lily Anne, Elizabeth and Christopher; Siblings Ted, Pearl, Bobby, and Donny. He was predeceased by his parents James and Lily, in-laws Fred and Lydia Stiller; Granddaughter Ashley; Daughter In Law Anne Marie; Siblings Aileen, Jimmy, Johnny and Roy.
Ron was born in Broomhill Manitoba on May 26th, 1930. He was the fifth of nine children.
On October 9, 1954 he married Irene the love of his life. They lived in various areas of Winnipeg and for 9 years in Portage la Prairie.
Ron worked at Good Year Tire, Aynsley Tire, Royal Dairies and Jessiman Brothers Cartage/Sears.
He enjoyed camping, swimming, wood working, arts and crafts, curling, tropical fish, old time fiddle and country music, fishing and his all time favorite, shrimp and baseball.
Ron was a member of the various fraternal organizations including the Canadian Order of Forresters, The Winnotoba Social Club and Club 373.
His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren. He was happiest when they would call and visit.
The family would like to express their deepest heartfelt thanks to those who made Dad’s final days comfortable with their care and compassion – E.M.S., Concordia Emergency Department and 3rd Floor North Nursing Staff, his numerous Home Care workers, and to Dr. Thomas for his many years of caring. A very special thanks to nurses Crystal and Laura and Home Care workers Peter and Oliver.
You lived a long life and have instilled in all of us, “It does not matter who you are, where you live or what you do, as long as you have love, you are the richest person in the world.”
Rest in Peace…..you earned it!
