Obituary of MARY LYNN TURNER-BLADY
MARY LYNN TURNER-BLADY
August 29, 1943 – March 30, 2015
Succumbing to a decade long battle with a neurological degenerative disorder (right parietal lobe atrophy), Mary Lynn is now with those she loved, missed and prayed for. Her untimely passing is only an event in her eternal life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years (& high school sweetheart) Stan; sons, Joel David Northan (Japan) and Mark Andrew Northan (Tracie); granddaughters, Emma and Meredith (Charlotte, NC). Step-children, Sharon and Phillip Blady. Step-grandchildren, Zachary and Heiko Blady-Bludau; special friend Andreas Bludau.
Siblings, Ian (Ella) Turner, Christine (George) Leibold also survive. Lovingly remembered by Aunt Rene Swingler (Thunder Bay) and cousin Pamela (John) Walas. Many other cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Predeceased by her parents, F. Robert (Bob) Turner and Joan (Grammie) Swingler. Her nibs, Bailey Wickes and Sundance will miss her. She will be missed and prayed for by her fellow members of the Catholic Women’s League, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Council.
Mary Lynn was a dedicated teacher, having taught in the public and separate school systems in Thunder Bay. Moving to Winnipeg, she was the Resource Teacher at Cecil Rhodes School for 19 years. She and Zachary loved to vet new programs. Going to “camp” at McKenzie (in Thunder Bay) with Zachary and Heiko was great fun, as were the memories of she and Stan there in their teen years.
Mary Lynn whole heartily participated in the leading edge research of her rare disorder conducted by her neurologist and the research team at the University of Manitoba. That research differentiated her disorder from Alzheimer’s and Dementia, though the salient symptoms were similar. It enabled faster diagnoses of the disorder that eventually took her.
Donations to the Alzheimer Society in Mary Lynn’s memory would be appreciated.
Funeral Mass and interment at a later date.
Those who we love and lose are no longer where they were before.
They are now wherever we are.
