Don served in the RCAF during World War II. His career as a Carpenter included building schools and then on to Winnipeg to work for the Department of National Defense. He then moved to Treherne for six years and then back to Winnipeg. In younger years, his passions were gardening, fishing, collecting stamps and coins, and spending time with his children. He loved to bake and cook for family and friends, and do Sudoku in his spare time. He also loved to play cards with his friends and neighbors at Lions Place.
