Obituary of GORDON JAMES DOPSON
GORDON JAMES DOPSON
April 24, 1954 - June 3, 2012
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gordie, with his family by his side, Sunday June 3, 2012 after fighting a brave battle with cancer.
Gord will be lovingly remembered by his mom, Agnes; brother, Tom (wife Debbie); cat Stucky; as well as nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by his father (Bill) and sister (Debbie).
Born April 24, 1954 in Winnipeg, Gordie "Peanut" spent most of his life in the West End of Winnipeg. In 2007, he moved to Gunton to take care of his Mom. He attended school at Sargent Park, and RB Russell. He worked with the City of Winnipeg Waterworks Department until his retirement.
He was a friend to animals, an avid recycler, and he loved a good meal! He enjoyed a good conversation or a friendly debate. Gordie was generous with his time in helping or caring for others. He was a great son, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbour who will be greatly missed!
Our family would like to thank the Teulon and Gunton community for all of their support. A special thanks to his Mom's best friend Diane.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday June 10th at 1pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street and an interment will follow on Monday June 11th at 11am at Chapel Lawn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordie's memory to the Salvation Army.
