Obituary of JOSEPH COSLIK
JOSEPH STEVEN COSLIK (KOZOLUP)
Joseph passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital, with his family by his side, on Friday, April 10, 2015. Words cannot express our deep sense of loss.
Joseph was born in Winnipeg to parents Maria and Stefan Kozlowski, on November 28, 1926. He grew up in Fort Rouge, and from an early age learned how to work hard to help in the home. While helping out at a local grocery store, he met the owners’ daughter Helen, who he married and to whom he was deeply devoted for 64 years. He was actively involved in parenting his only daughter, June, with unconditional love and support. He and his wife enjoyed biannual trips to Hawaii and occasionally farther abroad. He took pride in the upkeep of his cabin at Winnipeg Beach, which was a gathering place for family and friends for many years. He was a skilled carpenter and handyman, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to his parents, in-laws, daughter, and grandchildren. His summer job at Labatt’s brewery turned into a 43-year career, from which he retired in his early 60’s only to take on his new career of babysitting his grandchildren. He showed his grandchildren unwavering love, support, kindness, and generosity throughout their lives. Joseph lived independently in his own home until the end of his life, as he wished it to be. He never missed a special occasion and enjoyed frequent visits from his daughter and Bob, who he kept updated on the outcome of baseball, hockey, football, and curling games.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Stefan Kozlowski, his sister Helen DeNova (Tony) and nephews Tom DeNova (Christie) and Gary DeNova (Lorraine), grandparents-in-law Helen and Philip Cholosky, parents-in-law Jessie and Bill Wynnyk, and uncles-in-law Joseph Cholosky and Mike Cholosky.
Joseph was a hard worker who put his heart into everything he did, and lived according to his values. He knew what mattered and when to let things go. He was always appreciative of any kindness shown to him, and of simple gestures of love and affection, which he always returned. These qualities will forever be remembered and treasured by his wife Helen Coslik, his daughter June Galaugher (Bob Frith), grandchildren Jolen Galaugher (Peter Pelka), Tara Galaugher, and Bryan Galaugher, their father Brent Galaugher, and his uncle-in-law Bill Cholosky.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street.
A special thank you to Dr. Terry Babick for his 40 plus years of kindness and exemplary medical care provided to Dad.
Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Misericordia Place, 44 Furby, or the Alzheimer’s Society, are greatly appreciated.
Zawsze będzie w naszej pamięci, a światłość wiekuista niechaj mu świeci na zawsze.
