Obituary of NEVADA LETITIA WRIGHT BUCHAN

NEVADA LETITIA WRIGHT BUCHAN April 15, 1921 - March 16, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Nevada Buchan on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 93. Left to forever cherish her memory are sons Roy Wright (Joyce), Chris Wright (Bonnie), Grandchildren Kevin Wright, Darlene Tresoor (Cam) Steven Wright, Heather Wright (Jordan), Shannon, Kevin, and Stephen and 11 Great Grandchildren, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nelson, sister Mona Zobel, husbands Edgar Wright and Bill Buchan. Mom was born in Winnipeg in 1921 and lived on Home St., Maryland and Elgin Ave, and attended Gordon Bell High School. Her working career started at Eaton’s and then with C.P.R Telegraphs on Portage Ave. Mom then spent over 30 years with the Winnipeg Free Press, starting in the Circulation Dept. and moving on to being Secretary to the Editor for many years, retiring in 1988. She met Dad in 1945 after he returned from Over Seas with the Canadian Army. They married in 1946 and moved into our house on Fernwood Ave in St. Vital. Mom enjoyed many summer holidays and week ends at Mona and Harry’s cottage at Sandy Hook, and managed to travel to Mexico, Hawaii, and Europe. She was heavily involved with the executive of the Ladies Auxiliary at the St. Vital Legion for several years and also enjoyed the Bowling League at Dakota lanes for many years. Mom lived at Woody Dell Apartments for over 30 years, taking great pride in her garden with flowering hanging baskets, tomatoes and of course feeding the birds and rabbits. The family would like to thank the Home Care staff, Lions’ Manor staff on Worthington as well as the Doctors and Nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital. A special thanks to long time friend Eileen Brooks. In keeping with Nevada’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
