WILLIAM VAN TOEVER
1925-2015
Peacefully, on February 6, 2015 at Riverview Health Centre, William Van Toever passed away at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his son William Craig Van Toever, daughter Audrey (Filipe) Fernandes and grandchild Alicia Fernandes. He also leaves to mourn his passing, sister Anne Williams, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. William was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his parents, Audrey and Antonie, sister Audrey Letourneau, and nephew Sandy Williams.
Born in the Netherlands, William arrived in Canada with his family at the age of 18 months. The next time he would see his birthplace would be in the Second World War with the Winnipeg Rifles/Little Black Devils. Upon his return, William worked at the CNR for 44 years until his retirement.
He was a devoted family man, married to his love, Mary for 48 years, he always made time for his children and others he loved. A very spiritual and humble man, William enjoyed life, family, friends, travelling, and food. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was fun to be around.
The family would like to thank Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care for their wonderful care and support, and those who visited or just had a kind thought or prayer for William.
