Obituary of VIVIAN RUTH SINCLAIR
VIVIAN RUTH SINCLAIR (nee Ellerby)
December 13, 1923 - January 14, 2015
Peacefully, with her family by her side, Vivian passed away at the age of 91 years. She leaves to celebrate her memory, Bruce, her husband of 63 years, four children Lorraine (Ron) Dacombe, Carolyn (Michael) Sinclair/Jarvis, Janet (Len) Dacombe, Bill (Doris) Sinclair, seven grandchildren Jeremy (Cathy) Dacombe, Daniel (Sara) Dacombe, Christina (Jerry) Baker, Allan (Allie) Dacombe, Kalyn (Gabe) Wapemoose/Bedard, David (Amanda) Dacombe, Kristian Sinclair, seven great-grandchildren, brothers- and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Chrissie and Harold Ellerby, and twin brothers Bill in 1997 and Don in 2014.
Vivian graduated from nursing at the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1950, and worked as evening supervisor at the Women’s Pavilion. She and Bruce were married in 1951, and lived in Swan River, Seven Sisters, Great Falls and Winnipeg where they raised their four children.
Vivian was full of life and laughter, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, compassionate towards the less fortunate, genuinely kind and caring. She was a wonderful cook, baker of bread, seamstress and knitter, and loved dogs of all kinds. A woman of strong faith, Vivian lived her faith through prayer and service. In her retirement years, her grandchildren were the joy of her life.
The family is very grateful to the staff of Donwood Manor, where mom made her home for the past three years, for their loving and compassionate care.
Following a private interment, a celebration of Vivian’s life will be held on Monday, January 19th at 11:30 am at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave.
Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Vivian’s memory to Plan International or Siloam Mission.
