Obituary of NADIA OLGA MILNE
NADIA OLGA MILNE
Nadia Milne passed away at the Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg early on January 14, 2015 at the age of 92 after a brief and unexpected illness.
Nadia was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on March 7, 1922 to Nick and Kathryn Pollick, who came to Canada from Eastern Austria-Hungary (now part of Ukraine).
The Pollicks were colourful and talented characters who operated excellent restaurants and night clubs for many years here in Winnipeg.
Nadia was very recently predeceased by her beloved husband Forbes Watson Milne, on November 26, 2014.
She is survived by her daughter Marlene Kathryn Clarke (Ted); their sons Dr. William Clarke (Christy, née Mueller) of Chilliwack, and their children Michael, Cailey, and Caitlyn; and Robert Clarke (Zheng RuiZhen) of Edmonton, and their children Benjamin and MeiKayla.
Forbes and Nadia were highly privileged to happily celebrate their 74th wedding anniversary in September 2014 in apparent good health.
Over the years, Nadia had many interesting jobs. She worked for a while at Eaton's; and her sense of elegant style meant that Nadia and Forbes were always very well dressed. She also worked for the Federal government.
Both before and after retirement, Nadia and Forbes frequently travelled, most often to Florida and Texas, but also to Mexico, the Bahamas, and Spain.
Nadia and Forbes, long time residents of West Kildonan since the 1940s, lived since 2010 at Amber Meadow. They enjoyed many hours bike riding in Kildonan Park until their late eighties.
Nadia was a real sweetheart, and will be greatly missed by her family.
In accordance with Nadia's wishes, she has already been cremated; and there will be no service, other than a private family gathering at a later date.
We thank the Seven Oaks Hospital staff very much for their compassionate care.
