SOPHIE BABIAK
Unexpectedly and peacefully on October 28, 2011, Sophie Babiak passed away at the age of 86 years.
Sophie is survived by her sister Anne; numerous nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews and many other relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Maria; brothers Elias, Harry, Peter and Fred; also sister Dora and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many family members in the Ukraine.
Sophie was born in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1932 and settled as a market gardener, which she loved dearly. She also worked at Canada West Shoe Factory, Globe Bedding Co., Watkins Products Inc. and the Curtis Hotel.
Sophie will leave a great void in our lives, but her generosity, unselfishness and everlasting love for her family and friends will remain with us forever.
Pallbearers will be Walter Babiak, Fred Babiak, Corey Muzyka, Jason Muzyka, Tom Rodgers, Richard Evans, and Darren Cornell.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, November 4 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Avenue with Father Leonard Ratushniak, C.Ss.R. presiding. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sophie’s memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
