Obituary of ALFIERO ANTONIO BUCCINI

ALFIERO ANTONIO BUCCINI It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Alfiero Antonio Buccini on December 31, 2014. After fighting a courageous battle with a lengthy illness Alfiero passed away peacefully in his sleep. Alfiero leaves to mourn his beloved wife Anna and cherished son Dino; his cherished daughters Luisa (Remo) and Rita (Joe); his precious grandchildren Rina (Marco), Valentino (Genevieve), Joseph (Dorota), Tia (Danny); his precious great grandchildren Nicholas, Katrina, Remo, Joseph, Vittoria and Valentino; brother- in-law Salvatore (Marcella); sister-in- law Maria (Antonio); sister-in-law Angie; brothers John (Rina) and Fernando, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Addolorata, father Emidio, brother Gino and sister Dina. Alfiero was born in Villalago, Italy on August 17, 1931. On February 19th, 1950 he married his beloved Anna. Alfiero and Anna were married two months short of 65 years at the time of his passing. Alfiero came to Canada in 1950 and worked at McGavin's for 40 years. The family remembers how Dad would go to work, never missing a day, and then come home and, along with Mom, work countless hours to make sure that everything was in perfect order for his family. Dad loved to take care of his family and home, work in his beautiful garden and cook whenever he got a chance. Dad was meticulous about any job that he did and he knew how to do so much. Dad is remembered as a strong and brilliant man with a warm and gentle heart. Always making sure that his family was well taken care of. In 1973, he personally built a beautiful house for his family and later helped his daughters Luisa and Rita to build their homes. Dad was so proud of his children. He was so happy and proud of his grandchildren. Any mention of any one of his grandchildren or great grandchildren would, without fail, make his eyes light up and bring a smile to his face. As Dad's illness progressed he found it more and more difficult to do what he was accustomed to doing and he never stopped trying. His loving son, Dino was always by his side helping him during his courageous battle. The family gives gratitude to Dr. Lezack, the Seven Oaks Hospital Oncology Unit, and to the St. Boniface Heart Clinic for taking care of Dad. Dad was a gift that God gave to our family and we will never forget him. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren have all been touched by our special father. This poem written by one of the family members can only begin to describe how we all feel about him. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, January 7th, 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street; Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 8th, 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 271 Hampton Street with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morrissey, presiding. Entombment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Avenue. Born to be a Father You were born to be a father - like no other. God gave you many gifts: he made you strong, brilliant, carrying and kind. And the most special gift he gave you was to be a FATHER He must have known you would touch so many lives With this precious gift. He must have known you would find a special way to use it. As you always found a way to do everything. He knew he could count on you and SO DID WE Dad we miss you immensely and we will keep you in our hearts forever. We will never forget all you have done for us. Rest in Peace our dear and special father.
