Obituary of SUSAN WIESER
SUSAN WIESER (NEE KROEKER)
With deep sadness we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother, aged 85, who died peacefully at home on May 25, 2012. Susan is predeceased by her brother George. She is survived by her devoted husband, Rudolf, sisters Mary and Johanna, sons Robert and Ralph, grandchildren Ellen, Marc, Maxime, Grace and Joseph, and great-grandson Julius.
Susan was born in Poplarfield, Manitoba in 1927, and grew up in Steinbach, Manitoba. After pursuing musical education in Winnipeg, Susan began a career as a professional singer, and teacher of piano and voice, achieving accreditation from the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. Susan married her husband Rudolf in 1955 and became the devoted mother of two sons. As a musician Susan will be fondly remembered for her sensitive and expressive performances, and for the influence she had on countless students who passed through her studio, including her own children and grandchildren. However we will remember her best from the beautiful family weekends and summer months spent at the cottage on Wallace Lake. An eternal optimist, even throughout a difficult year dealing with cancer, Susan never lost her sense of humour, joy in life and personal dignity. She is an inspiration to us all.
The family extends their most heartfelt thanks to the nurses at Riverview Healthcare Centre as well as the palliative homecare staff for their compassionate care and constant attention.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
