MARY MOSZYNSKI

Obituary of MARY MOSZYNSKI

MARY MOSZYNSKI (SAMPSON) July 30, 1924 - October 25, 2014 On October 25, 2014 we lost our most special Nanny, the very heart and soul of our family, at the glorious age of 90. We were so very blessed to hold her hands until she so peacefully took our Dad's hands and joined him once again. Nanny leaves behind her sons Richard (Helen), Phillip, Myron (Susan); daughters Liz and Phyllis (Ron); grandchildren Jennie (Dennis), Sherri (Ed), Chris, Brandy (Tom), Breigh, R.J., Cole, Teal, Ashleigh, Nicholas, Chelsea, and great-grandchildren Ryan, ChloƩ, Ben, Liam and Ella. Nanny also leaves her sister Betty (Peter), and numerous relatives in Newfoundland. She was predeceased by her husband Ted, brothers Jack and Peter, and sisters Edna and Jean. Nanny was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland on July 30, 1924 to Jean and Peter Sampson. She left Newfoundland to join the Air Force and while stationed in Halifax Nanny met her soul mate, Ted. They were married in 1945 and together raised their family in the heart of the North End. When Ted passed away in 1981 their home continued to be the gathering place where all were welcome. Every Sunday, that home was filled with noise and laughter while we gathered for our special dinners. Nanny loved trips with the family, our "Pass the Ace" and "Rummoli" nights, the Casino, the lake, chocolates, butter tarts and of course the "Captain" in her glass beside her. Nanny memories are too numerous to imagine and etched in our hearts forever: her cookies that were baked every weekend, our special Christmases, our sing-alongs, her loud laugh, her soft chest when you wanted to cuddle. This was the woman that made us who we are and held us together and her love is what will continue to bond this amazing family of ours as we continue our traditions without her. Thank you to the compassionate staff at the Seven Oaks ICU and to her home care workers, Maria and Cherry. A celebration of Nanny's life will be held on November 8, 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, lunch to follow. A private family interment will take place at Holy Ghost Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Nanny - we love you to the sky and back
