Obituary of GERALDINE KOWALCHUK
GERALDINE MAYANNE KOWALCHUK
After a lengthy illness, Geraldine Mayanne Kowalchuk passed away peacefully at her home on May 19, 2012.
Geraldine was born in Winnipeg on December 2, 1946, daughter of Joseph and Jean Sybasko.
She was predeceased by her parents, son Ted in 1990, husband Raymond in 2005 and leaves to mourn her passing son Gary Kilborne, wife Karen, their children Krystal and Jeanne, son Ken Kowalchuk, wife Nikki, their children Ally Sandra and Kassandra, sister JoAnne LaVallee, and brother Dale Sybasko.
Geraldine was an active stay at home Mom, selflessly raising her three sons. She later obtained her security guard license; working for Metropol, Pinkerton and the Canadian Polish Manor from which she retired after 20 years of service.
While working at the Manor she made many, many good friends; having taken a genuine interest in the residents, their interests and lives. It was here that she chose (amongst these dear friends) to live after the passing of her husband.
One hobby of hers was ceramics and had fashioned many curios with loving care and those in her family's possession will always be treasured.
Her home was a proud display of family portraits and her vast collection of angels.
Geraldine had a great love for music; her collection of records consisted of Country, Western and Ukrainian polka tunes.
At her request cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date where her ashes will be laid to rest at Brookside Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully declined and friends wishing to remember Geraldine may make donations, in her memory, to the charity of their choice.
We love you, we will miss you and we pray that you now "Fly with the Angels".
