Obituary of JEAN COLLIER
JEAN COLLIER (NEE OLESKI, NEE WOLCHUK)
March 9, 1919 – September 23, 2014
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jean (Mom, Grandma).
She will forever be in the hearts of her children Dennis and Ralph (Darlene), and step-children, her grandchildren Kelly (Ty) and Deena, and her dear childhood friend Anne Suwala. She will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from near and far.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband Walter Oleski, her second husband Stan Collier, and her oldest sister Nelly Oakes.
Jean was born and raised in Winnipeg, and had two wonderful sisters which she was very close with (Nelly and Julie). Her very first career after she graduated high school was as a hairdresser, she worked for the City of Winnipeg for many years, and later went on to work for Sears where she utilized her skills in sewing.
She lived in Winnipeg for most of her life, and then lived just West of Arborg for approximately the last 12 years. Jean was an active woman, and would enjoy going shopping, cutting the grass, going for walks in her orchard, spending time with her pets, and visiting with family and friends. Jean was beyond kind and generous and always put family first. She was a gifted cook, and had hand-made perogies and cabbage rolls made for every occasion. She will be missed so much.
As per Jean’s wishes, a cremation has taken place and a service will take place at All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street, on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 10AM.
Our family wishes to thank Dr. Donnelly, Dr. Ishaks, Pat Barkman and the rest of the amazing staff at Arborg Hospital for the care they showed Jean every day. She enjoyed being cared for by such a sincerely genuine team. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s name can be made to the charity of your choice.
