Obituary of MANUEL DE OLIVEIRA BERGANTIM
MANUEL DE OLIVEIRA BERGANTIM
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father and grandfather on September 10, 2014 at the age of 76 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Virginia and Manuel Bergantim; wife Conceicao (Connie) and eldest son Jorge.
Manuel leaves to mourn his sons Carlos (Maria), Sergio (Cheryl); grandchildren Angela, Abby, Kyle, Enza and Donna; brothers Jose (Matilde), Ilidio (Lourdes), Carlos (Eulalia) of Winnipeg; sister Lucia of Portugal and numerous nieces, nephews in Winnipeg, Calgary, Toronto, Portugal and Brazil.
Manuel was born August 27, 1938 in Feteiras Do Sul, Sao Miguel, Portugal. During his time in the Portuguese Military he met Conceicao and soon after married and started a family. He immigrated to Canada in 1968 when he began a career in construction working on Hydro Dam projects such as Seven Sisters, Great Fall, Long Spruce, Limestone, Gillam and Jenpeg, with his last working years with Bond Gold in Ontario.
Manuel and Conceicao spent many later years working for CFS as foster parents and had many children in their loving arms. They also enjoyed their summers at the Portuguese Park where they had many friends and good times.
Thank you to Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services and Seven Oaks emergency staff.
