Obituary of SOPHIE YAWORSKI

SOPHIE YAWORSKI Peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 4, 2014 with her daughter by her side, Sophie ended her courageous fight at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Walter in 1985, parents Samuel and Sophie Boyko and 11 brothers and sisters. She leaves to treasure her memory daughter Katherine Stewart, granddaughter Skye Stewart and son-in-law Jim Stewart. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews that will miss her. Mom, there are so many things that remind us of you. Your love of cooking, all of us watching her favourite show Wrestling on Sunday evening after ordering Chinese food (which she loved). We used to tease Mom that her "boyfriend" John Cena was on!! Mom did work over the years but for the most part was a home-maker. She enjoyed gardening and bowling in her younger years, playing bingo, cards and shuffleboard at the #9 Legion. Eddie Murphy movies made her howl with laughter (Nutty Professor, etc). She liked to sew and knit and loved to spend time with Skye. She was always willing to take care of the neighbourhood children in her younger years. Katherine had many lunches with her childhood classmates because of this. Mom loved to socialize and have fun with friends. She also spent many evenings with her daughter and son-in-law's friends. Mom was very young at heart and fit in just fine with "the kids" who were half her age. Thank you to everyone who took such wonderful care of Mom in the last nine months. Palliative Care, all the nurses and health care aids at Riverview, Misericordia and Kildonan Personal Care Home. The compassion you showed to Mom and her family will never be forgotten. Thank you to Dr. Visch and neighbour Linda Smith. Thank you Rosemary Boyko and Esther for your support. Mom, we miss you but take comfort knowing that you are with God, your parents, brothers and sisters, dear friend Jean Grace and especially husband Walter. We know you missed him terribly. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or The Humane Society.
