Obituary of Eugeniusz Mieszczakowski

Eugeniusz Mieszczakowski June 17, 1926 – August 27, 2014 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Eugeniusz Mieszczakowski, cherished father, grandfather and friend who passed away peacefully at Concordia Place. Eugeniusz was born in Lodz, Poland. Dad served with the American army after the Second World War in Germany, when his company was disbanded, he was discharged then moved onto France where he worked in the coal mines before coming to Canada and making Winnipeg his home. He worked for Borland Construction and then CP Rail as a storeman until his retirement in 1986. After Mom passed away he moved to Hadashville and enjoyed the company of family visiting him at his homestead. We are all left with fond memories of the happenings that took place during that period. He then moved to Transcona and made that his home, visiting family and friends on a frequent basis. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Helene in 1985, who was the light of his life for their entire marriage and daughter- in- law Mary in 2003. He survived by his sons, Aleksander and Thomas (Darlene), granddaughter Kelly, grandson Thomas (Trista), granddaughter Tanya and great-grandson Noah. In keeping with the wishes of Eugeniusz there will be no funeral services. Family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses and caregivers at Concordia Place given to Dad during his stay. MISS ME – BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I hope you will realize My pain at last is free. Miss me a little, but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, And each must go alone, It’s part of the master plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Just go to the friends you know, Try burying your sorrows in some good deeds, Miss me - but let me go.
