VALERIE LEIGH KACZOR

Obituary of VALERIE LEIGH KACZOR

VALERIE LEIGH KACZOR Valerie was born March 13, 1975, in Edmonton, Alberta, and passed away suddenly on April 30, 2014, at her St. Amant Centre home on Edelweiss in Winnipeg. While she did not have the life we had envisioned for her at birth, people, especially her devoted caregivers, often described Val as a happy person who lived an active life. She worked at the St. Amant Centre and on off-hours the girls at the home would often go out for shopping or other activities. Val loved music, singing, finger-play games (“Little Mouse being her favourite which she often requested…), shopping, swimming and going for walks or walking indoors on a treadmill. She also loved food, especially cake and ice cream or other desserts. One of Val’s favourite sayings revolved around food, “more please!” Val’s abilities were limited, but in many ways she was a great teacher. She taught us compassion, tolerance, patience and fortitude. Val will be missed by her father, Grant Kaczor (Lorraine), her mother LeeAnn Eyssens (Henry), siblings James (Joan), Jordan and Miranda, as well as other relatives and friends. We would like to thank her St. Amant family, who lovingly cared for her for so many years. A memorial service will be held at the St. Amant Centre at a later date. If you wish, donations may be made, in Val’s honour, to the St. Amant Foundation, 440 River Road in Winnipeg.
