Obituary of JOSEPH NOROSKY

JOSEPH NOROSKY Passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital, surrounded by his children and grandchildren on April 25, 2012. He was born on March 2, 1923, and was predeceased by his Wife Pauline, his parents John and Nastia, his daughter Patricia and his son-in-law George as well as his sister Helen and brother-in-law Steve, his sister Mary and brother-in-law Tony, and his brother Wilf and sister-in-law Lena. He is survived by his son Barry (Doris), his daughter Adele, his daughter Mary Ann (Ross) and his son-in-law John. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dad was born in the District of Ozerna, MB, where he met and married Polly and then moved to Winnipeg where their 4 children whom he loved dearly, were born and raised. He worked for several years with Burns as well as the City of Winnipeg Golf Courses mainly Kildonan Park Golf Course where he was the Starter and made many friends. Mom and Dad attended Blessed Virgin Mary (Ukrainian Catholic) Church. Dad was an active member of the Men’s Club and the Senior’s Group for many years. Peeling potatoes for the Perogy sale was an ongoing event. Dad was a self-taught violinist and had a passion for listening to Ukrainian music. Summers meant going out to Sandy Lake and staying at the trailer on the old homestead. We remember his flirty ways and social interaction with everyone and anywhere he went he always knew someone. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of Gido’s eye. His remaining years were spent at Holy Family Home. The family would especially like to thank Nettie and the staff on the fifth floor for their gentle care and compassion during his stay. Prayers will be held at Blessed Virgin Mary (Ukrainian Catholic) Church, 965 Boyd Ave. on Monday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday May 1 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Volodymyr Bashutskyy officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. The pallbearers will be his grandsons, Bill Norosky, Daryl Norosky, David Czul, Joey Karp, and Mike MacTavish and Nephew Larry Yarych. In lieu of flowers, please make your donation to the Kidney or Alzheimer Foundation. Dad always said, "This isn’t good-bye – just so long!" Vichnya Pam’yat!
