MARIA OSICKI

Obituary of MARIA OSICKI

MARIA OSICKI IT IS THROUGH THE COMPASSION OF OUR Lord God that has decided our Mom is to now rest in the sight of eternal salvation. Mom went on her journey in passing from us on earth on 26 February 2014. Mary leaves behind, her sister Jane, son George, daughter-in-law Dionisia, and grandchildren Tobiasz, Amanda and Aaron, great-grandchildren Allula, Ian, and Cole. She was predeceased by her husband Jan, son Richard, and brother William. Mom was the ideal of all a Mom is. She had a beautiful childhood in the Kresy lands of Eastern Poland. She had felt there the wonder of nature and the way her family worked, played, and prayed with many different peoples and religions. She taught us how to always try to be just and determined, to support diversity and help those who needed us most. Mom was shipped by cattle car at the beginning of WWII into the gulag which she survived only with much determination with her brother and sister while the entire rest of her family and friends lost their lives. She was able to flee into Persia then Africa then serving in England in the Royal Air Force. It was only years later that she found her sister Jane and brother, Bill being finally united in Canada in 1951. Mom then ran our home while Dad fought for Poland’s freedom while being and working as a patriotic Canadian with all and any of his many waking hours doing volunteer work. Mom let us dream our dreams and supported our efforts with a heart always inspired by the love for the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We will always miss Mom but, then again, she is always with us as well. We thank all the staff of Riverview Health Centre who have cared for Mom and showed their love and concern for her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 4 at 12:00 p.m. at the Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. Interment will follow at the Holy Ghost Cemetery.
