Obituary of JOAN MOWAT

Joan Mowat December 9, 1921 - April 14, 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, with her family by her side on Saturday, April 14th at Victoria General Hospital. Joan was born in Brighton, England and came to Canada in 1945 as a war bride. She was predeceased by her husband Don, her parents Cecil and Anne Day and daughter-in-law Charlene. Left to cherish this wonderful woman's memory are her six children Alex, Margaret(Dan), Don(Marilyn), David(Vicky), Bill(Norma), Barbara(Dan); also her 11 grandchildren Heather(Ron), Tammy(Jared), Jamie(JJ), Susan(Chris), Tara(Curtis), Jason(Lisa), Melanie(Henry), Tracy(Dallas), Cory(Skie), Krista, Kelly(Chris); as well as 9 great grandchildren and one on the way. Also to cherish her memory is her only brother Fred Day and sister-in-law Betty in England, and her brother-in-law Clare Drummond in Edmonton, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Her greatest passion in life was supporting her husband in his career and raising their six children. Some people laughed at Joan and Don for having so many children in those days but Joan laughed back many times and said she wouldn't have changed it for the world. She loved knitting for her numerous grandchildren and she always made something special for each of them whether it be some homemade soup, a casserole, or their special cake. The family wishes to thank the staff on the 4th floor of the Victoria General Hospital for all their care and compassion during the last week of Joan’s life. We would also like to thank Dr. E. Braun. Interment has been held. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Goodbye my family, My life has passed. I loved you all to the very last, Weep not for me but courage take. Love each other for my sake. For those you love don't go away. They walk beside you every day.
