Obituary of JOHN HLADKI

JOHN HLADKI January 23, 1923 - August 28, 2011 Peacefully, on Sunday morning, August 28, 2011, John passed away at the age of 88 years, at home, with family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Oleksy and Eva Hladki, his three sisters, Hania, Katherina, Ksienia. He will be deeply missed by his wife Franciszka, his two sons, Zenon, and Stefan, and daughter Irena (Jay) and his grandchildren Noah, and Mayer. John was born in Lobachev, Ukraine. At a young age he left home and went to work in Germany and England. In 1949, he arrived in Canada, and worked in various occupations; as a barber, a shoe repairer, in the forestry region, and in roofing. He married Franciszka on December 1, 1973, 37 loving years. John worked at Building Products Limited for 22 years. John worked at the Bristol Aerospace Limited for 17 years until retiring in 1995. John was a member of the U.N.F., and faithful parishioner of St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. John was very hard working. His family always came first. He did the best he could for his family, doing whatever needed to be done. John loved the summer times at Rusalka where he spent many weekends, for many years. Playing cards and enjoying many happy times with family and friends made him the happiest. At home, he always liked gardening, building and creating in the back yard. He enjoyed watching sporting events on television with his sons. Hockey and wrestling were his favorites. He enjoyed his loving wife's superb homecooking. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Babick, and the staff from Home Care Providers; Brian, Moises, Steadman, Mario, Angeline, and Edward Andrusiak - Coordinator. Their care and compassion were outstanding. Father Jury Bango, Father Michael Buyachok for visiting, John. Steven Murphy, for his spiritual services, at the hospital. Prayers will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at 8:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011, at 10:00 am, at St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 114 McGregor Street, with Pastor Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat Michael Buyachok officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street. Pallbearers will be: Stanley Morga, Chester Wojciechowski, Ron Hruden, Paul Lazarenko, Bradley Karpiak, Paul Ficek.
