Obituary of Stanislaw Zaluski
Stanislaw Zaluski
(1923-2011)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Stanley Zaluski. Stanley passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Holy Family Home at the age of 87.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sister Katarzyna Tworek, and her children, Tadeusz, Edward, Krystyna, Barbara, Jerry, Margaret, Peter and their families, nephew Edward Jarosiewicz and his family, sister-in-law and her husband, Zofia and Marian Jendras and many other nieces and nephews in Canada and Poland. He was predeceased by his wife Maria, his brothers, Karzimierz, Michal, and Jozef, and his sisters, Maria, Anna and Ewa.
Stanley was born in Niemstow, Poland May 16th, 1923. Unfortunately during World War II he was deported to Germany and from there with his sister Katarzyna, they left to make a home in Canada. Soon he met his future wife Maria and they married in April 1967. He held many jobs the last being with Winnipeg Hydro, retiring in 1987. Stanley was a very kind and generous man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand on countless projects for family and friends. He was known for being a handy man and was able to fix anything. Though he had no children of his own, his loving nature was shown when he and his wife sponsored his nephews Edward Jarosiewicz and Jozef Gubala, and niece Teresa Wojcik to Canada. Stanley loved the outdoors. Much of his time was spent at his cottage. He especially enjoyed fishing and was always ready to give fishing tips or share a fishing story. He will be missed for his friendship, his unique sense of humour and love of life.
The family would like to thank the second floor staff at Maples Personal Care home and the third floor staff at Holy Family Home for their loving and compassionate care.
Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster on Sunday, February 27 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341Selkirk Ave. on Monday February 28, at 10:00am with Oblate Fathers officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stanley's memory to the Holy Ghost Cemetery Fund.
