Sylvia ZALUCKY

Obituary of Sylvia ZALUCKY

SYLVIA ZALUCKY (nee BEWCYK) With her loving sons by her side and a tear in her eye, our loving mother, wife and grandmother peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009. Sylvia is survived by her three sons, Zenon Zalucky, Peter Zalucky of Edmonton and Daniel Zalucky and wife Teresa of Calgary (children Mark, Anna, Danylko). She was predeceased by her loving husband Nicholas, beloved father Dmytro, mother Alexandra, sister Anne and brother Elie. Sylvia was born to a pioneering family of Canada in MacNutt, Saskatchewan. Her love of her Ukrainian ancestry allowed her to proudly pass along centuries of traditions to her loved ones. As a strong follower of our Lord she maintained a close relationship with her church and dedicated her life to the love and care of her family. Sylvia lived for the moments when she would see her sons carry forward beautiful Ukrainian traditions in song, language and ancient customs. She was an excellent chef and cook who worked tirelessly to prepare traditional Ukrainian foods that intensely pleased all that dined at family gatherings and holiday functions. She enjoyed winter travels to Mexico, Venezuela, Texas and Florida. Summers were spent gardening, visiting BC and family in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Minnesota and relaxing at the family cottage. Prayers will be sung on Monday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main Street. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Cathedral. Officiates will be Very Rev. Fr. G. Mielnik and Rev. Fr. A. Harkavyi. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. ABSENT FROM THE BODY - PRESENT WITH OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS VICHNAYA PAM'YAT
