PETER (PIOTR) WOJCIECHOWSKI August 12, 1921 to July 18, 2009 On July 18, 2009 surrounded by his beloved family Peter Wojciechowski, our husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, after a lengthy illness at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by his parents Adolf and J�zefa, sisters Monica and Marysia, brothers Janek, Edward and Jozef. Peter is survived by his wife of 63 years, Stefania; sons Chester (Georgina) and Alfred (Tammerah) of Boston; grandchildren Yolanda (Kevin), Chester Jr. (Stefenie) and Elizabeth; sister in-law Stella; nieces Helen (Paul), Janina, Anna (Randy), nephew Raymond; and family in Western Canada, Poland and Belarus. Peter was born on August 12, 1921 in Jasieniszki, Poland. In 1959, with his wife and two sons, he immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. He obtained employment with The Sterling Stall Group in 1964 and continued with them until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Ghost Church and the Holy Ghost Fraternal Aid Society. In his younger years, he was a member of Royal Canadian Legion # 246. Dad worked hard and always made it a priority to be there and support his family. He derived the most pleasure by taking his family to different areas of the province to enjoy the outdoors. He truly enjoyed fishing, mushroom picking and later, fell in love with going to the cottage. He also led prayers during family gatherings. Most recently he took great pleasure in sitting in the backyard taking in the sun, along with his cat (Misha), while watching his wife work in the garden. Prayers will be said on Thursday, July 23 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father as Celebrant, with viewing beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jan Choma, Henryk Choma, Walter Choma, Mike Tudryn, Kevin Andrews and Chester Jr. Wojciechowski. The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre (GA-4 Acute Care Unit) for their sensitive and compassionate care for Dad in his last days.
