Obituary of Nick TATARYN

Peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2009, Nick Tataryn, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Nickolas, his birth name, was born in the North End of Winnipeg, Manitoba called Brooklands on November 24, 1923. He will be fondly remembered by his only child Radford; brother Harry (Kay) of Argyle, MB; sisters-in-law Mary (William) Tataryn and Irene (Fred) Tataryn both from Winnipeg, MB, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his parents Magdaline and Joseph Tataryn; brothers William, Michael (Minnie) and Fred Tataryn. One of the most enjoyable stories told is when he won dog sleigh races with Prince, his dog, in Winnipeg at a very young age. Having a city grocery store and yet no farming experience, Nick's parents and brother Harry decided to buy a farm in Argyle, together with Nick, and after growing a few crops, they paid off the farm. Nick then purchased his own farm in Grosse Isle in his 20's and grew grain and oil seed. In 1956, Nick married Doris Dmytrow and had his only son. He was very gifted in various trades, such as carpentry well into his senior years, he enjoyed gardening which he cherished every year and was a fantastic cook. Nick was a very hard working and determined person, Missing from his life for the past 5 years was his wife Doris and now he will be missed by many. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
