Violet TAIT

Obituary of Violet TAIT

VIOLET TAIT Peacefully, in her sleep, at Deer Lodge Hospital, Violet passed away October 22, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Vivien, sons Lindsay (Karen) and Leland (Tan), her 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Violet was born March 4, 1921 in Chatfield, Manitoba. She married Alec Tait and they farmed in that area for many years before moving to Winnipeg. Violet worked for over 20 years with Globe Envelopes and retired in the mid 1980's. She had a great love for her family especially the little ones and was proud to be called Big Nan or Nanny Tait. She enjoyed family gatherings and for many years baked up a storm, especially at Christmas time. She kept in touch by phone with her family and many of us missed those chats when she spent the last eight months in hospital. Violet was predeceased by her husband Alec, partner Herb, mother Christina, father Andrew, her brothers Yurt, Swan, Austin, Eric, Roland, Andrew and sisters Swea, Yetta, Sadie, Dora and son-in-law Ray. The family would like to thank the staff of 2W - Deer Lodge Hospital for their support and excellent care during her long stay in hospital. At Violet's request, cremation has taken place. Interment will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. Memorial Service will be held following interment at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Violet's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
