Obituary of William SYCH
WILLIAM BASIL SYCH
MAY 1919 - JANUARY 2010
William Basil Sych passed away peacefully on January 14, 2010 at the age of 90 years. A loving husband and beloved father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed.
William was predeceased by his wife Stella. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Rhonda) and grandchildren Jennifer and Andrew.
William worked hard on home foundation repairs with his brothers Harry and Steve. Also he worked as a carpenter. Later he made another career change and became a shoe repairman, having shops first on Selkirk Avenue and then on Main Street. William built the homes in North Kildonan and Garden City that he lived in with his wife and son. He was a good handyman and always worked hard at maintenance and repairs.
William loved fishing and enjoyed being a member of the Arlington Sports Club. He helped build the club's lodge at Wendigo Resort at Lac du Bonnet and enjoyed many days there. In derbies William won trophies for the biggest pickerel or jack.
Heartfelt thanks to the kind and caring nurses and caregivers at Golden West Centennial Lodge, who looked after him.
No funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.
A Memorial Tree was planted for William
