Alvina's travels took her to different places but settled in Winnipeg in 1974. She worked as a cook at the Oakview nursing home. She loved to spend time outdoors in her flower and vegetable garden. She enjoyed mushroom picking, fishing at the cabin. She loved to dance, and her and Mike spent many Saturdays going to the dances at the different Legions around the city. She enjoyed her time with "the girls" having coffee at the mall. some of her most memorable times were spent with her kids and grandkids cooking for the "suppers" in her Ukrainian tradition. Mom, you taught us how to love unconditionally, to be patient and compassionate. You were strong as an oak tree, bending, but never breaking. Today our hearts are heavy but the sky tonight will be one star brighter. Many, many thanks to the wonderful palliative care staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. The caring and compassion you showed for mother in her last days, made her transition so comfortable and peaceful.
